DX4 Hot of da day

Da Emtron DX-4 is powered from a seperate 3 phase power supply. The HT transformer is a back breaking 80 pound tape wound monster. It is so heavy that I decided to leave the power supply unit in garage on a set of casters, running a 6 meter HT cable + control cable to the shack on the first floor.

The RF deck is top notch! First class RF engineering and workmanship. Rudi and Orlando did another outstanding job with the DX-4 3 phase.

Obviously all the protection features including a remarkable accurate power AND SWR meter were there. Indestructible and putting out a stiff 6 kW PEP if needed.

The two GU84B tubes, capable of a total of 5kW plate dissipation are inexpensive and rugged.
The amp is stable, smooth tuning. One needs a certain physical strength to turn the massive bandswitch. No sissy-amp ;-)

I would recommmend the 3 phase version since drawing 10 kW+ out of a 230 volt mains might cause some problems.

Communication with Rudi is excellent by using the telephone. One gets answers instantly after posing the questions. (much better than e-mail)
For those who cannot affort the fares for an international phone call my recommendation is not to purchase the DX-4.

For the others: there is no way you can go wrong with this monster amp. Just make sure the other parts of you radio station can handle the required power levels.
